Saturday: Baltimore Barack Info

The Baltimore Sun has done a good job with gathering information at this late stage in the game for tomorrow's (that's right tomorrow) visit by Barack Obama. Instead of giving his speech at the train station, he'll be giving it at the War Memorial Plaza, which is in front of beautiful City Hall.

The picture above is from the Sun and it is from the portico on the second floor of City Hall facing west across the plaza. For fans of The Wire, the police headquarters is on the right.

There is a weather advisory in place for tomorrow, with sub-freezing temperatures and single digits with windchil. The president-elect is expected to address the city at 4:15. No word on whether recently scandal-embattled Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon will be speaking as well.

I have been a little disappointed by the lack of people in the city who will be coming out to enjoy the visit. The nice server at Cosi, our custodian, the bar manager all have expressed reluctance to venture out Saturday.

I plan on getting out there by three, hoping that enough of these reluctant citizens with fear of the cold and crowds will will allow us a good view from the edges of the Plaza to see. Anyone else going?
